EVENT IV [Energy efficiency – the first fuel for sustainable and resilient urban environment]
Main Topics
Fourth workshop will be organized in the margins of Expo Environment and Energy 2016 and Riga Energy Days 2016. This workshop will therefore aim to provide the most valuable content to the corresponding audiences by providing good examples and case studies and analyzing the lessons learned. Following the second workshop on the concept of One Stop Shop this workshop will discuss the technical aspects of and needs to fit within the concept.
Main Barrier to Be Addressed
Renovation can only take place with an initiative. Many of the times the management of buildings is poor and hence deep renovation is ”last on the list”. Additionally low quality projects and building works due to insufficient technical support, lack of good quality supervision of building works, lack of experience and support instruments are issues that slow down implementation of deep renovation practices. When looking at the educational perspective lack of qualified professionals and specialists and lack of information and education on benefits of the energy efficiency are key points for developments.

Expected Results
This workshop will seek to answer the dilemma on whether we first need skilled workforce and then only support from building users and public procurers or the latter actually must come first. Perhaps sometimes all that is needed is clear support instruments to advance both.
