Croatia WS1 – Kick-off

As a part of the series of workshops within the BUILD UPON project the Kick-off (1st workshop) was organised by the Croatia Green Building Council on March 31st 2016 at the Westin hotel in Zagreb. Close to 100 stakeholders gathered to learn about the importance of this global project in order to analyse the potential barriers to building renovation in Croatia.

The Deputy Minister of construction and physical planning Dr. Sandro Nižetić opened the workshop, together with the president of the Management Board of the Croatia Green Building Council, Ms. Petra Škevin. In the first part of the workshop, presentations by the Ministry and the CGBC were held in order to inform the participants about the importance of the project and during the second part a panel discussion took place, involving key stakeholders and allowing the audience to ask questions regarding issues within the 4 categories relevant to the strategy: regulations, financing, awareness and skills and capacity building.

The main conclusion of the workshop was that the BUILD UPON project with its innovative approach is an extremely helpful vehicle and that the workshops that will follow should enable open discussions among various stakeholders, thus providing valuable recommendations of measures for the improvement of the national renovation strategy.
