Croatia’s President Meets with BUILD UPON Team

The President of the Republic of Croatia, Mrs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, participated at the 8th Better Building Brunch, organized by the Croatia Green Building Council in Zagreb, on February 10th. Mrs Grabar-Kitarovic addressed the representatives of the institutional, academic and economic sector on the topic: “Does the Historic Conference on Climate Change COP 21-Paris affect the future of Croatia and how?”

“By adopting the Paris Agreement, 195 world leaders confirmed their commitment and readiness for true changes. They proceeded from the fact that preservation of natural resources and the human environment is necessary for sustaining life and therefore the successful development of nations and countries,” said President Grabar-Kitarovic. She emphasized that the conclusions of the Paris Conference are not just important for major world powers, but also for every country that feels the consequences of climate change.

More than 120 VIPs joined the 8th Better Building Brunch, during which BUILD UPON was presented alongside a presentation from the Croatian Ministry of Construction and Physical Planning; the Ministry which will lead on the design and delivery of Croatia’s 2017 national renovation strategy.

Terri Wills, CEO of the World Green Building Council, joined the event by video link to emphasize the global commitments of the GBC movement at COP21 – to mobilize deep energy renovation and net zero energy buildings – and BUILD UPON’s leading role in this.
