Innovative ways to finance renovation: Alingsåshem – Brogården, Alingsås(Sweden)

Until 2014, Alinsåshem has completed the thoroughly renovation in area Brogården with passive house technique. This project won the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards in the catalog Living 2014. Between 1963 and 1975 a million apartments were built in Sweden according to “Million Program House”. There are 299 apartments in Brogården which belong to this program.

Passive house technique tries to resolve unfavorable HVAC, high energy using and poor accessibility by 44cm isolation with new material, inside balcony to avoid thermal bridge, new windows and mixed-mode ventilation. The pay-back of investment is about 10 years by Alingsåshem’s calculation.

REENOVA+(Croatia)

REENOVA+ is a €60 million facility for financing energy efficiency in Croatian households. An online tool, REENOVA+ Technology Selector, allows households to choose their preferred energy efficiency solution and obtain a loan of up to €50,000 for improving the energy efficiency of their homes. Manufacturers, retailers and installers of such technologies can also take a REENOVA+ loan (via partner institutions) of up to €2.5 million per individual loan to expand their service and trade operations, and up to €5 million on a cumulative basis.

Exeed Certified Pilot Grant Scheme(Ireland)

The greatest opportunity to reduce life-cycle energy and carbon is at the early design stages of new investments. Exeed Certified is a programme with oversight by SEA that provides independent certification of assets – either created new by design or retrospectively by upgrade achieving optimised energy performance and with energy management capability. The EXEED Certified Pilot Grant Scheme provide grant support for both professional services towards the application of EXEED Certified and also grant support for additional capital being expended on opportunities identified through the process and being implemented.
